Golf-community kitchens in the Etowah valley
Many Etowah kitchens date from the decades after the golf club opened, and the tile, laminate or early granite tops from that era are now the ones due for replacement. Etowah is an unincorporated community in the French Broad River valley, on US 64 about eight miles west of Hendersonville, bordered by Mills River to the north and Horse Shoe to the northeast.
The valley's modern shape comes from one change of land use. The Moland-Drysdale Corporation made Etowah Brick here and shipped it across the eastern half of the country until the operation moved to Fletcher in the early 1950s.
